A lift chair raises the whole seat forward and up, so standing takes almost nothing out of your legs. If getting out of a low chair has become the hard part of sitting down in one, this is the piece of furniture that fixes it.
The Thomas is the fabric version, which is the easier one to live with day to day. Fabric does not go cold in the morning or feel slick when you are pushing yourself up, and it is quieter and warmer than leather on a chair somebody uses for hours at a time.

It needs an outlet, and it needs clear floor in front as well as behind, because the base travels forward when it lifts.
Bring the person who will use it, if you can. The lift speed and angle differ between chairs and it is worth feeling.
